Using a combination of theory and practical sessions, this 2 day course takes you from the basics through to clear 12- lead ECG interpretation skills. The course covers common rhythm strip and 12-lead ECG abnormalities. It is ideal for health care providers who need more than just the essentials or who want to review and update existing skills.

Aims / objectives
- Review basic anatomy and physiology of the heart, applying this to ECG recording and interpretation.
- Review the normal ECG rhythm.
- Understand and review common rhythm strip abnormalities.
- Consider the role of the 12-lead ECG in clinical practice.
- Understand the cardiac axis and its role in interpreting the 12-lead ECG
- Systematically interpret 12 lead ECGs
- Identify normal ECG patterns.
- Recognise ECG abnormalities such as atrial, junctional and ventricular arrhythmias and heart blocks.
- Identify patterns of myocardial ischaemia and infarction.

- A&P of the heart and coronary circulation related to ECG interpretation.
- The cardiac conduction system.
- The normal ECG and rhythm strip abnormalities.
- How to record a 12 Lead ECG.
- Troubleshooting
- 12-lead ECG interpretation- normal 12 lead and cardiac axis
- ECG interpretation- abnormal patterns. To include:
- -Atrial abnormalities
- -Ventricular abnormalities
- -Conduction disorders and the heart blocks
- -Ischaemia and infarction
- -Rhythm recognition
