  • Explore factors that influence urogenital conditions such as atrophy, pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence and consider management strategies available.
  • Develop knowledge and competency in prescribing emergency contraction
  • Explore the key principles of Fraser Guidelines in clinical practice

Course programme

  • Review of anatomy and physiology of the female genitourinary system
  • Overview of gynaecological disorders- Endometriosis, PCOS, Adhesions, Pelvic organ prolapse, Gynae cancer
  • Sexual history taking & promoting sexual health
  • Physical assessment- abdominal & pelvic examination, vaginal/speculum examination, bimanual examination, screening & specimen collection
  • Diagnosis and management of common gynaecological disorders including: pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, bleeding and heavy menstrual bleeding, common sexually transmitted infections, retained tampon and/or removal of foreign body, vaginal pessary use for prolapse
  • Overview of emergency contraception
  • Adolescent sexual health and Fraser Guidelines explored

This interactive one day course is targeted at primary care practitioners involved in the management of and referral decisions for women presenting with gynaecological issues.
